We are fed up of waiting for a nice day for our walks so we decide to go even if the sky is grey :( So after Mag has aan eye test in the morning and we get a £20 Valintines meal deal from M & S (we know how to live here in Felixstowe !!! ) we pack lunch and head for Mistley just over the border in Essex.
We park up just outside Manningtree on the banks of the R.Stour and have our rolls watching the hundreds of swans waiting for a free meal by the roadside with the tide being very low at this point.
Then we don our walking boots and head for Mistley Church in search of the Essex Way and Furze Hill Wood :) The ground is very muddy after yesterdays rain but we find the wood with one problem :)
We find a nice pond where I try to take pictures of the lake overflow to look blurred and for my first time at this the results are not too bad :) after completing the trip around the lake we head up the hill and find what we were looking for'Old Knobbly' the woods oldest tree at 800 years !!!!
The walk is completed with a walk along Mistley Quay and I try for a few pics as the sun tries to make an appearance as the tide returns !!!
A top 2 hour + walk even if a little cloudy !!!
